2393 Črna na Koroškem
On the edge of Črna na Koroškem, among green slopes and quiet forests, stands the Alley of 55 linden trees. Each tree in this carefully designed park is dedicated to one of 55 exceptional individuals who have left a significant mark on the history and development of Slovenian beekeeping.
The park was created through a collaboration between the Municipality of Črna na Koroškem and the Beekeepers’ Association of Slovenia, as a tribute to a tradition that spans generations – and as a living memory of people who placed bees at the centre of their lives.
It is no coincidence that Črna holds this honour. In 2018, it was recognised as Slovenia’s most bee-friendly municipality. The town is home to two beekeeping associations – the Črna Beekeeping Association and the Žerjav Beekeeping Association – and also features a permanent beekeeping exhibition and the educational Honey Trail.
Within the municipality, visitors can also find a unique attraction: the highest-altitude beehive in Slovenia, located high on the slopes of Uršlja Gora, standing resilient against all weather conditions – just like the tradition it represents.
