Mini K24 is a children’s version of the larger mountain challenge K24, where participants must cross five Koroška peaks within 24 hours – Uršlja Gora, Smrekovec, Olševa, Raduha, and Peca. The original K24 challenge began in the year 2000, and since then it has been completed by 581 participants.
Due to the popularity of the trail and the challenge itself, an idea was developed through the initiative of the Kralj Matjaž Kindergarten Črna, the Črna Mountaineering Association, the UNESCO Global Geopark Karavanke, the K24 club, and the Municipality of Črna na Koroškem. The result is the Mini K24 thematic educational trail, designed to encourage children, families, and older visitors to complete a symbolic version of the route in 24 minutes while discovering natural and cultural highlights of the area. It also serves as inspiration for young people to one day take on the full K24 challenge.
The Mini K24 educational trail is shorter and consists of five points located around the centre of Črna. These points symbolically represent the five Koroška mountains. Participants follow a map provided in a leaflet and walk from one information board to the next, completing the trail in 24 minutes.
Each station features an information board describing one of the surrounding mountains and its associated legends and symbols.
The five mountains presented along the trail are:
The trail also introduces mythical and folklore characters connected to the region, including:
The starting and ending point is located at the Tourist Information Centre Črna. Visitors receive a leaflet with information about the trail and a control card from a special box.
Participants write down their start time at the beginning of the route and their finish time at the end, and stamp their card upon completion.
